Berry & cacao smoothie bowl

It’s berry season! Chocolate and berries when paired together makes every cell in you want to bake an overly indulgent dessert. Then again you decide to start the week healthy, keep up with resolutions and make a smoothie bowl instead! Cacao, berries, oats, superseeds and a sneaky bit of kale makes this a breakfast smoothie bowl you will definitely want to make more often!

PREPARATION TIME: 5 minutes

INGREDIENTS (serves 1)

For smoothie base:

  • 2 ripe frozen bananas, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • Handful of fresh strawberries
  • 1 small curly kale leaf
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseeds
  • 2 tablespoons organic non-alkalised cacao powder
  • 1 teaspoon organic honey*(optional)

Note: If you find the taste of raw cacao powder too bitter, use 1 tablespoon and adjust it accordingly!

For toppings:

  • 1/2 teaspoon bee pollen
  • 1/2 teaspoon chia seeds
  • Fresh berries

METHOD

Blend all the ingredients for the smoothie base in a high speed blender for a few minutes. Pour it into the bowl and add any toppings of your choice.
