A rich chocolate smoothie with the nutty flavour of almond butter and a hint of citrus. All the goodness of a decadent hot chocolate at Christmas but a lot more healthy! If’ve you’ve indulged in one too many holiday drinks switch it up with some healthy alternatives, it’s still chocolate at it’s best!
PREPARATION TIME: 5 minutes
INGREDIENTS (serves 1)
- 1 ripe frozen bananas, chopped
- 1 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1 heaped tablespoon organic almond butter
- 1 tablespoon rolled oats
- 2 heaped tablespoons organic non-alkalised cacao powder
- Juice of half an orange
- Small piece of fresh ginger*(optional)
METHOD
Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender for a few minutes. Pour it into a glass and add any toppings of your choice: flaked almonds, oats, chia seeds, bee pollen all work great!
If you feel a tad indulgent, try topping it with dark chocolate roasted oats! It’s a two ingredient treat you won’t regret. Simply dry roast the rolled oats in a pan on a medium heat and stir it in with some melted dark chocolate (70% works best!).
