Halloween withdrawal is officially setting in! The excessive need for carved pumpkins and candy, the only time of the year when it’s acceptable to prance about channelling your inner serial killer, it’s all gone, another year away. For all you gory Halloween lovers out there, here’s a way to make your next Halloween healthy: An all red, extra gory, ‘Blood & guts’ smoothie! Okay, maybe it’s a delicious raspberry and watermelon smoothie?
PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes
- 2 bananas, frozen and cut into chunks
- 100 g raspberries, frozen
- 50 g watermelon, cut into chunks
- 1 tablespoon rolled oats
- Splash of almond/ soy milk*(optional)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds, for topping
Toss all the ingredients except the chia seeds into a high speed blender and blitz for a few minutes.
Note: The almond milk and the amount you add is optional because the more you add it’ll probably turn that dark gorgeous colour into a pink smoothie and thin out the consistency as well.
Pour the smoothie into a bowl and top with watermelon balls, and here’s the gory bit: Crumble frozen raspberries and sprinkle with chia seeds and you’ll have your very own bowl of ‘blood and guts’! It’s as simple as that!
